Questions about blogs

Hello,

I've been a web designer for a long time, and I have to say that I don't anything about blogs. I need to put one together, and don't know where to start. Is a blog an application I can buy from somewhere? Are there free ones? What do I need on the server side? Any blog engines you recommend?

A blog [google.com] is just an online personal diary. You don't necessarily need special software [google.com] to run one, but many people find it easier.

MovableType and WordPress are a couple of big names to check out...although there are many, many more.

I advise to download the Wordpress script. You can easily design, find or adapt templates for it.
