Image Rendering in IE

Color differs when it shouldn't

Basically I have a simple GIF overlaying a tiled background. The background color for both is identical, which is intentional so that you cannot see any border around the embedded image. I know it is identical by comparison in Photoshop and the fact that it works fine in Firefox.

In IE 6/7 the colors appear different. This results in a noticeable seam around the inside image that I don't want.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Are you using the zoom in IE or using HTML to scale the image?

... and are you sure that the color matches EXACTLY (i.e. not optimized as to modify the color slightly)?
