I'm a bit perplexed at the moment as I am trying to 'balance' what i believe to be true about splash intro pages or redirect html pages before the main page of the site, and what my client actually wants.
It is my client who pays me afterall ! I really dont fancy using intro pages (this one has a quicktime sound file aswell) or a html redirect page.....the main reason being that i like to optimise my code for search engines.....maybe there is way around this?
We have comprimised on that point. Also there is a infinite loop quicktime audio file on the index page. After a while it can get a bit tedious, i have put a limit on the loop and made visible the quicktime player, so someone who wants to listen to it again can do so......again, any thoughts on this would be great.
Finally, I am trying to decide whether to use a dhtml for a drop down menu at the top.
I personally would use a drop dowm menu with css but my client has alreay designed this navigation bar using golive 4.0 and really likes it.The problem is that the code used is large in size and not compatible with netscape and opera, nor is it inline with w3c standards.
I want to have integrity with my coding but also not wanting to turn this project into MY project.I try to design with the client and end user in mind, but this is a real humdinger as there are so many elements that i would never go near.
Am i being inflexible?.....all comments graciously appreciated.

Sorry to hear you are having these sort of difficuties, i know the feeling and that was just with relatives.
WRT the above could you show the person how the site looks in these browsers and then mention that X% use it and do we really want to lose all those customers and potential sales "cos it looks good in one". It should be about accessibilty across the board.
cheers and best of luck
Sounds like a good idea to show what the site will look like on a couple of different os.
As i'm writing, is there a suitable software programme out there for someone who just wants to show the color and graphics of a given page.At the moment, i am receiving all the various pages that are written in adobe golive and am spending quiet a bit of my time cleaning up the code.
In an ideal world, my client would present to me 'visually' what he/she is looking for and i could just bang away at the code then.
Thanks again for your useful comments,
Barry
