Tables Problem in Netscape

I want a thin white border around a table. Looks lovely in IE but both Opera and Netscape depict it as a horrid 3D table, not flat and smooth like IE.

Can anyone tell me what I must do to resolve this?

Cheers

Welcome to WebmasterWorld, Will.

I could use some more information to help you pinpoint what's going on. Are you styling the table in CSS? Would you list just the snippet of your stylesheet that applies to the table?

I assume that white is not the background color of the page, correct?

Yes please provide us with more information to help you out. You are not refering to the BODY element properties such as, MARGINWIDTH="0" MARGINHEIGHT="0" TOPMARGIN="0" LEFTMARGIN="0" ?

A link to the page would be great if you can.

Welcome to WebmasterWorld alien,

Please don't post a link to the problem, see TOS [webmasterworld.com] re url's.

If you could just give a little more specific information about the methods you are using we can give you a better answer.

Im assuming this problem is with Netscape 4.x . As far as I know Netscape 4.x doesnt like borders and simply works with either theyre there or theyre not , no fancy stuff with it .

An alternative to try is to nest a table within another table and set your padding and spacing on the outer table and give it a background colour you want as the border colour . This should result in a 'border' around the inner table . This should give you the effect you want .
