Access to certain sites

Is this an IE problem?

When I try to access some sites I get this message :

Access Forbidden to Rude Robots and No-Bots

I was trying to access [apache-server.com...] and I am just using IE 6 but I am not a bot and try my hardest not to be rude ! Any ideas how I can stop this ?

IE6 should give a user-agent field. Are you using some type of firewall or proxy server?

Sidenote:

I think it's kinda ridculous to give an explanation to mindless bots on why they have been banned. I mean, if you're going to ban rogue bots, why waste server resources and give a detailed explanation on why.

You might try the following agent, DestructoBot. It hasn't been banned yet.

I just tried it in IE6 and got straight in, so it must be something else.

Norton Internet Security can also block your user agent, but you can turn it on or off at will.

The "message" provided is a bit obtuse, but it's a good idea to have some text telling an
accidentally-blocked user what happened and what to do about it. It should, however, be
friendly, apologetic, and addressed to a human user, not a bot! - Another usability issue.

Yes I do use NIS, and the secuirty level is quite high.

I could not be bothered to reconfigure it to please their website ! At least I know what the problem is thanks. Will just have to find a website (which I have now) that allows me in no matter how rude a bot they think I am ! lol
