"Open in new window" on IE5.5 problems

Suddenly, all new windows are small pop-ups

Something has caused my IE5.5 to open new windows as if they were small pop-ups, rather than the full screen windows that I used to get. It may or may not be related that this first happened after I changed my security settings to Medium to view several sites, therefore enabling Active-X, something I normally hate to run.

It's happening both with target="_blank" pages and with right-click "open in a new window" pages.

How can I get these back to full screen? I'd rather not even be reminded of pop-ups.

Does it do this on every copy of IE 5.5 or just on your computer?

Dare I suggest the really fundamental - when you open IE the first time, does it open full screen? If so, when you open IE and hit the window resize button in the upper right corner, does it resize to the same size as the popup-like new windows?

In other words, is your browser just remembering a different size?

Right, I'm with Ergo. The next time a window opens, place the cursor over the corner of the window until it changes to the double-arrowed diagonal line and resize the window to your liking. All new windows should have the same proportion.

I'm talking about the IE5.5 on my machine only.

Thanks... I was doing this, but I wasn't doing it quite enough. The trick was to resize all open browser windows, and then to shut them all down. The windows then came back to the size I had set when I restarted IE. Tom's use of the word "remembering" was very helpful.

Even easier, close all but one window, then resize just that one and close it.
