I've been seeing an increasing amount of 'horizontal pop-up menus'/nav bars recently.
Usually, when you place your mouse over a nav bar element (eg. 'about this site') a sub-nav menu appears horizontally with further options (e.g 'site history', 'site spec' etc.). This horizontal menu stays on screen and allows you to run your mouse over it and select one of the sub-nav items, which when clicked goes to the page in question.
Sorry for the 'caveman' description of the above!
Now that I need to look at some 'reference sites' which use this technique, I can't find any! So, I wondered if someone could point me in the direction of some sites which use this kind of nav system.
Being 'technically challenged' (bet you couldn't tell :)) I would value anyone's opinion of creating this kind of nav using Fireworks 4.
Thanks in advance.
Dynamic Drive [dynamicdrive.com] have quite a number of free dHTML menu systems for download and use.
I've found, though, that the best way (and the method that gives you most control and flexibility) is to create your own. There are many resources out there on learning dHTML, just do a Google search!
It's basically using JavaScript (ECMA Script!) to manipulate the objects on the page (via the Document Object Model, aka DOM).
Fireworks does allow you to create dHTML menu systems, but the code is hugely bloated!
