is it possible?

Is there a way to size a window in AOL so that it opens full screen and stays that way? The site in question opens in that smaller default screen in AOL. When you set the window full size and use any of the pop up selections (that open smaller windows of information) the main screen resizes to the original smaller window that AOL defaults to. Any way to stop that from happening?

Hello Jill,
that's an interesting question... I don't have access to AOL so I cannot help directly, but lets see if any AOL users can suggest possible solutions.

As far as I know, it is not possible. AOL has a feature where in it could set exactly what the size of the window would appear when a site is visited, (Window Menu > Remember Window Size) but for pop-up ads they appear as what it was set but they are still resizeable.

I have no problem with the pop ups (which aren't ads in this case but features of the site) being the smaller size that they are. The problem is - and this is according to the client - when you resize the main browser window in AOL to be its full size it remains that way while browsing the site until you open one of the info pop ups. Then the main window resizes to the AOL default size.

I told them that most AOL users probably don't mess with the window size especially when the site appears appropriately in the window to begin with. I'm not dissing AOL users but I used to be one many years ago and I was lucky I could log on yet fool around with the looks of the browsers. Once I got to that point I got a real ISP. :)

Anyway I haven't run up against this problem with any other site designs. If anyone knows of a way to keep the main browser window sized larger I'm all ears.

God I hate AOL, I only have it for testing sites. Many a time I have had to go back to drawing board after viewing a site in AOL, even when it looks fine in all other browsers.

Think of AOL's browser like this: The layout is very much like a framed site. If you have any javascript tricks that won't work in a frame, they won't work on AOL. (A cheesie e.g. of this would be the screen shake script)
