If I create a layout table which involves placing a table within the <TD> of a larger table. Do I have to re-adjust the rowspan and colspan attributes of the larger table to take account of the rows and columns of the nested table or is each table totally independant?

Apologies for what is probably a rather stupid question.

Welcome to WMW StepOne

No. Tables are self contained within each set of <table></table> tags.

Welcome to Webmaster World, StepOne.

There's no need to increase any rowspan or colspan in the enclosing table. There's no interaction at all.

The only stupid question is the one you never ask - then you still don't know the answer!

I'm glad you asked this not-stupid question!

I had the same question when I switched from dreamweaver to homesite.
