Hi all

I've been to a few sites which seem to open up adverts etc which are not in windows but appear on screen and can move all over the screen and then dissappear after a few seconds.

Is this a flash technique or something else.

Thanks

they are using javascript normally to do this, it's annoying isn't it.

Is is annoying especially as you cant get rid of it until it times out. I'm trying to set something similar up for my own site, but I really only want a small ad to appear, not over my main site but to the side. I don't want pop ups due to anti pop up software.

Do you have any ideas of the script code or sites where I can find this.

Thanks again

I don't want pop ups due to anti pop up software.

So basically you want to emulate the functionality of a pop-up ad for those people who have specifially installed software to disable pop-up ads? Hmm. Don't you find that ironic? :o

No I dont want a pop up in effect to appear, I want a window to pop up saying whats new on our site. If they disabled that through pop up software then the would miss out.

I always forget about popup ads (I use Opera) until I have to use someone else's computer w/o Opera. I don't think I'd ever re-visit a site with popup ads if I didn't have Opera (and thus no popup ads).

Why use a popup? Put it on the home page, somewhere prominent but without getting in the way of anything.

I can't help wondering if anyone anywhere does anything with unrequested pop up windows other than:-

(a) to become annoyed, and

(b) close them immediately.
