On WebmasterWorld, Brett references the fact that the "Iframe element works with Internet Explorer 5+, Opera 4+, Netscape 5+, Mozilla, and dirivatives."

With that said, what % of surfers does this safely account for (roughly)? Do you think 95 or 99% of the surfing population use at least Explorer 5 and Netscape 5 ?

Brett, I looked at the RSS thing, but what server does that need to be hosted on? Does the RSS file (or whatever it is) have to be hosted on the sites that want to display your forums (I can only assume that it does)?

On your page it says the following:
"The RSS of the homepage highlighted posts can be found at:

When I click on that link, nothing happens. Am I missing something? I fully understand how to implement the IFRAME, but I am not understanding the RSS thing. Can you help me understand how the RSS file is implemented and used?

IFRAME seems to be a very easy way to insert syndicated content. Is this a reliable piece of code? I'd hate to implement this on a few hundred sites and then, down the road, have a new release of a browser (ie. IE, Netscape) which does not support it. Any thoughts on this?

brad, i know others and myself have pointed to various ways of displaying rss on your own site. No you dont put it in on your server, when someone loads a rss application in a page or desktop it checkes bretts file and lists what's on it. Do a search for RSS using the sitesearch here. Many solutions from js to perl to php to remotely hosted.

Heres an easy remotely hosted solution to get you going..

just stick brett's RSS url in the box for the url, play around with the "look", save the js code, copy to your page, and your done!
