Since last week, my iexplore once in awhile will freeze for just a short couple seconds. Cursor will turn into hour glass. Whenever my cursor is in a text box, it will auto typing words. It's almost like my computer is being taken over. It's not doing anything more than words being generated -- like "If she is the a day @AOL tax 1099 price" just random words. It will keep generating/typing words, chunk of sentenses. I have norton running and it's not picking up anything. It's hard to detect what's going on because whenever I reboot, it will go away until whenever it struck again.

Welcome to Webmaster World, Pen.

Well, something definitely is "taking over your computer", whether Norton sees a problem or not.

You might run AdAware [warp2search.net] -- you may have unknowingly installed some stealthware -- but if that's the case it's buggy stealthware!

It would help if we know what software versions are involved.

If you're running Windows XP, check the voice recognition software: [newscientist.com...]

It really does sound a lot like that voice recognition bug that mbauser2 pointed out. Assuming that you followed up on that, updated your Norton, and set the firewall correctly then I'm at a loss.

Maybe try Ctrl-Alt-Del while the hourglass is showing - see if you can catch the name of the program that is running when the auto-typing happens.
