Here's what Brent Winters Says.

In his latest newsletter, Brent Winters (WPG) says "...don't expect to achieve high rankings while optimizing the NOFRAMES area. Optimizing a NON-framed page will often achieve better results."

For various reasons, I use frames and deploy content in the NOFRAMES area from time to time and find that I often can acheive decent rankings. Could I obtain better rankings by avoiding frames? Anyone have thoughts on this?

the main problem with frames is that the search engine (god willing) may find your site, and with a little luck, be able to navigate your frameset, however, the real problem is when a user clicks that particular link in the Search Engine Results Page, they get an orphen page... without that carefully crafted navigation frame and all that... so they're stuck.

however, there ARE javascripts (i'm not sure where to find it) that test the browser window for a frameset, and will load the frameset and that particular page... instead of just that page.
