Firstly,

Please, please, please don't use a scrolling marquee. They look tacky, and if I ever see one I will leave the site immediately.

Havig said that, if you MUST use one, remember the <marquee> tag is specific the IE (last time I checked, not sure about NS6.2)

Have a look at [javascript.internet.com...]

for a javascript version, that way if someone doesn't like it they can disenable JS and view your site in peace.

Justa.

You can use the scrolldelay and scrollamount attributes in the marquee tag to control it's speed.(i.e. <marquee scrollamount="2" scrolldelay="1" > )

In a table cell? Yup.

justa - would you really leave a site instantly just for having a marquee. I agree they're naff ... but, well, it wouldn't make me leave the site, Crikey.

Okay, that might have been a little tough, but I seem to find that sites with scrolling marquee's also have <blinking> text and animated gif's running around the page, which make the site tacky the way through.

I'll put my two-cents in as well.

Definitely avoid the scrolling marqee stuff, blinking, and too many animations. Very tacky looking, and very amateurish.

Only once, on one page did I use a scrolling text. And that was in an applet, not js.
