IE6 and caching.

I recently upgraded to IE6 from 5.5

I was altering a small section on one of my webpages (re-directing a link) and i previewed in on IE6. The old page was still there. I refreshed several times (still the same) i went to internet options and delited the cach and history folders still showing the same page. I them thought there must be an ftp problem so i repeated the page transfere using another client, Still the same. I even totaly removed the page from my server. I loged onto that page using IE6 and the page was displayed. (talk about wierd). I remember having to install a service pack for IE 5.5 to correct this fault does anyone have any knowledge of how to correct this fault. My page was been altered 7 days ago and it is still showing the old page!

I viewed the same page in netscape 6.1 and all it up to date.

Weird - have you tried the shift+control and clicking refresh trick? This is supposed to force a fresh reload.

Worth a try I suppose.

i have tried almost everything including that.. i even delited my catch files....i loged on-line there and this is the first timem i have seen the recent page since i changed it last week.....

Similar problems are reported by ravgni and rumbas on this thread [webmasterworld.com], but we never nailed down if they were using IE6. I just asked.

I don't know about Ie6. Just had some reports on the problem but haven't been able to produce them myself.
Will check it out though.

it could cause problems for sites that are regularyl updated...always seeing the old page would be a nightmare for the webmaster.
