What is the best way to get a screen shot graphic of a web page?

Correct me if I am wrong, but in Adobe Photoshop, can't you open the program, go to the website, hit Shift+PrintScreen, go back to Photoshop, and hit edit --> paste?

That assumes you have Photoshop, though :)

Paint Shop Pro has the best screen shot capabilities I've seen yet. Multiple shots, client area/window/full screen, with or without the cursor, and unlike everything else - it works on stuff like videos playing in windows media player. Still, you've got to cough up the dough or use the free trial for 60 days.

For PC users.

Striking - Print Screen - twice will capture the full desktop, start bar, side, top menus, etc. . .

Mivox can step in for Mac users.

to add to the last post... Alt+Print Screen sends a bitmap image of the window in focus to the clipboard where you can then paste it in your graphics program.

The free viewer Irfanview does nice captures; desktop, active window, client area of active window.

SnagIt (for windows) is pretty darn powerful and can even capture on-screen text (that you can't cut and paste) as text. Captures video too.

SnagIt [snagit.com]

For Mac, you can press command+shift+3 to take a PICT format capture of your entire screen, or press command+shift+4 and then "click & drag" a selection box around a smaller area of the screen... the PICT shots will be saved to your hard drive as "Picture 1" "Picture 2" etc.

No software needed, besides your system. :)

Then open the pict in your image editor and have fun!

<added>To take a picture of only a specific window (like your browser window), press command+shift+4+capslock, then click on the window you want to take the shot of...</added>

Is there any OTHER key combo you can use to get a Prnt screen with 98? I'm trying to get a screen shot of a menu that is only on control-tab (much like alt-tab). No matter what way I try it, I can't get a screen shot of it because it goes away on the next keypress - including print screen.

You need a software program that can capture on a time-delay basis.

The one I recommended (above) can do this - you can download a copy with a temporary trial licence. The full licence is about $40. I'm sure some of the other tools listed here have this feature and are cheaper/free.

I am with Josh. I tried snagit to play with earlier this week. I had an interview where I was doing a presentation to a class. The handouts all were web pages. I remembered that I had snag it. Fired it up and in 15 minutes I had all pages done and printed looking very nice :).

Under Windows there is no need to get any extra software. Just use press Ctrl + Print Screen, then open up MS Paint and press Ctrl + Paste. I think you could do this as early as Windows 3.1 :)
