Anybody know what the closest Mac version to Netscape 4.04 would be? Choices for Macs seem to be 4.03 or 4.05 in the browser archive on N.

This site of archived browsers [sillydog.org] does mention NN4.04 for Mac, but it doesn't offer an actual download. As you mentioned about the netscape site, it's either 4.03 or 4.05
My guess - version 4.04 for Mac had some JavaScript security holes in it that were just too big to let it stay available.

So from the point of checking a site for N4.04 compatability a la Yahoo, which would you choose? Sympathies to all caught up in events.

Well, the version features don't run in exact parallel. I'd go for 4.05.
