It's that time of year again - Christmas eCards are being mentioned.

Last year I created a simple flash card with a snowglobe/snowflakes effect. I'll probably be doing something similar this year.

My question is what (apart from snowflakes) can anyone suggest might be good festive themes/images for this? I know that anything religion specific is probably out, so any other ideas would be warmly received.

You might want to look at catalogs from places that sell Christmas cards to businesses - that the businesses buy to send to their clients. I'm on the mailing list for some of those and the cards are almost entirely secular.

Some ideas I've seen: Pine trees with snow (not decorated if you want it really inclusive), deer or other animal(s) in winter, poinsettias, holly, pretty arrangements of ribbons and/or bows in festive colors (sounds overly simple but if arranged right they can be beautiful - if you can make them move in an attractive way, that could be even better), a wintry starry sky possibly with an effect of the stars twinkling (avoid having one prominent star), arrangement of fruit or other food. Even text such as "Season's Greetings" or "Happy Holidays" could be incorporated into a design.

Are snowmen religious? I wouldn't think so.

Also, when I think of the "holidays" I always think of good food. Turkey, apple pie, stuffing, hot chocolate, fresh baked cookies. Maybe home-cooked food with friends and loved ones could be a theme.
