On a seperate unrelated issue I haven't been able to get in webmaster world for several days ie get don't have permissions etc-This happened before.
Sites don't have PR, pages do. Let's assume that when you talk about the PR of a site, you actually mean the PR of the index page. For most sites, the index page is the one with the highest PR. How much higher in PR are index pages (on average) as compared to all other pages? To address that question, one would have to know what is the average number of pages per site. I don't know that number. Maybe someone else has an idea?
For the average 'punter' what does the pr bar show then? Is Pr 9 an exceptional site , Pr 4 Ok, Pr5 Good etc etc. Sorry sounds a silly question but I thoiught 4 was considered good as Google uses these sites to count for backlinks.
The idea is good, but the method of collecting data is not accurate enough. It is also possible for webmasters to manipulate results to some extent.
It can be used as a very general guide, but I still think Google's pagerank system, while not perfect, is a better indicator.
