Some more good news from Google

I wanted to do a quick post and let people know that another set of penalized websites are about to re-enter our index. The last times I mentioned something like this, it was for clients of a particular SEO or company who went way past our guidelines:

[webmasterworld.com...]

This time, it's mostly independent websites that were outside our quality guidelines, but that corrected whatever it was (hidden text, hidden links, etc.) and asked to be re-included. Many sites will return to our index within 24 hours. A few sites that used to be way past our guidelines will have to wait for a complete crawl/index cycle before they return completely.

I've said it before, but ultimately each webmaster is responsible for what happens on their own pages. Don't let someone else convince you to put hidden links, hidden links, or other tricks on your domains unless you know what problems it can cause. If you think your site may have penalties for violating our guidelines at one time, but the site has now corrected any problems, you can send an email to [e-mail] with the subject line "reinclusion request". Wait to email us until you're sure your site complies with our quality guidelines at
[google.com...]

One of my resolutions for this year is to continue to communicate and to increase communication with webmasters when they've run into problems. The process we're putting into place for these reinclusion requests should help make that easier for webmasters who have made mistakes.

One question GoogleGuy, and feel free not to answer. Would it be possible for even *you* to know the exact minute the dance will begin? I've always assumed that there was some delay between the button being pushed, and when the update first being visible. This delay being of unknown length because it only happens after the computers crunch so much data. I am assuming this is why that Google rep was so vague with that "within 48 hours". He couldn't be more specific because that was a close as he could narrow it down.

If I am not mistaken, I read that at the conference recently Google said the update would be within 48hrs.

I had a dream last night that the update began, and my site showed over 700,000 backlinks. At least, I think it was a dream.. sometimes you can't tell with the way things fluctuate combined with odd sleeping schedules.
