Message Too Old, No Replies

WOW, Google email back in 12 hours.

Was not excpecting this.

I sent an email to Google last night and i was surprised to see an email back today (after reading in this forum that Google does not reply back, and if they do it will take long time).

The email was addressed to me but it did not answer my question or tell me why i lost my PR, it is mostly general information regarding the ranking issue.

This is absolutely a right step in the right direction and hopefully the update will take care of my problem.
Thank you Google.

Night_Hawk,

Was it a personal response? I mailed them ages ago about publicising a re-hash/toolbar-version of their news.google site. I got an auto-response within 12hr's but never a personal one :'(

Google has always kicked out a canned auto-response in just a few hours. It's the email that actually answers your questions that never shows up.

No this was not an auto response, I recieved that within an hour of sending the email.

This is email is addressed to me, it starts with
Hi myname,

It can not get more personal than that.

I also emailed them last month when my backlinks disappeared and got a personal response in less than 12 hours. I was impressed!

Aylah,

Did the email answer you question?
Did you get your PR back?
Thanks

it starts with Hi myname, It can not get more personal than that.

Aylah, Night_Hawk,

Are your personal responses the same? ;) .. (All our automated email starts with "Hi <insert_name_here>".. )

I'm very impressed if it they do respond in 12 hrs, but they use fancy email tracking software.. I'm sure it has the ability to auto-send personalized mails to FAQ's. (Don't mean to step on your joy.)

ATB :)

I am sure the response was done by human for the following reasons:
- I did not use a form email where you select your subject from a drop down list or insert first name in a text box and then you get a response email based on that subject you selected and addressed to your name.

- the email address does not have my name at all, my name only appears in the signature in the bottom

- the email subject does not have any indication to what my question is.

- the reply talk about the subject i asked, and here is some of it.

Google said "Thanks for your email. Results in our index change regularly based on ongoing, automated processes aimed at improving the quality and content of our search results. Changes you may observe include, but are not limited to, addition of new sites, changes in the ranking of existing sites, sites falling out of the index or getting dropped and site's content fluctuating between old and new content."

So i am very convince that this is a human reply.

I've only emailed Google twice and both times I think I've received a personal repsonse within 24 hours. The most recent incident was a real surprise because I was questioning a SPAM site. The response came the next day and though I can't recall her name the woman who emailed let me know they had looked into the sites I mentioned and were taking action against the one with the lower rank.

As for the toolbar crashing IE I uninstalled and then reinstalled and it started working for me again - try doing that.

yetanotheruser,

One more reason to make me sure it is a human response,
I was checking my logs just now and there was a starnge entry with 2-3 minutes before the email that gos back to Google corp. and it is not the search engine.

What was the email address you used? I tried contacting Google about two sites that I have that for almost a year haven't been indexed by Google, despite Dmoz and Google directory inclusion. I have tried versions Google addresses where I wrote polite letters asking for help with this problem, but never heard back.
I hope their is someone at Google I could contact.

Glad that people are having a good experience with our user support. They do a pretty amazing job. allanp73, try dropping a reinclusion request to help at google.com; might want to doublecheck the guidelines just to make sure you don't have anything "out there" on your site..

My google email had an answer to a very specific question..it was not a auto reply.

I didn't get my PR back yet, waiting for the next update :)
