I have been moderately succesful (by sheer luck probably, more than anything else) to get my English site about the Island of Culebra ranked in regular google.
There is a whole site in Spanish that is a subdirectory of the English domain.
The language specific search returns no results whatsoever - and the English one is number 3 or better?!
does google automatically 'ban' subdirectories (it does not seem so since there are other language specific subdirectories that DO show up ..
Are there specific procedures, meta tags or anyhting else that google needs for a specific language?
I am really at a loss ..
(and yes there are links to it, in yahoo/espanol it is the ONLY site that shows up etc..)
Thanks in advance :)
Michael
You should have no problems getting the spanish pages indexed.
It's probably just a matter of time, Google is supposed to update it's index within the next week, so wait and see if your pages gets indexed by that time.
You should have a link from your english frontpage to the spanish frontpage, and links from english pages pointing to the spanish pages with same subject is also good.
i.e. link from domain.com/subject/subject-in-english.htm to domain.com/es/subject/subject-in-spanish.htm.
