As of 10.45am uk time (21 Feb), i can't see any last updated dates next to any listings on the Google SERPs - not even for cnn or bbc etc.
Does this mean that the freshbots aren't running/working properly?

That's correct, Freshbot results are not active. I haven't seen the little guy around for a couple of days, then he just came by late last night. It seems a little early yet for the update process, so I would expect we will likely see new Freshbot results by this evening or tomorrow morning.
