Toolbar and DMOZ show different PR

DMOZ says 7, toolbar says 6 - what's up?

After the last update, the DMOZ PR for my site remained at 7 while the toolbar PR dropped to 6. I figured it was just during the google dance, where the toolbar PR varied a bit, but since the dance finished, the difference has been constant.

Has anyone else experienced this? And what is my PR?

What exactly is a "DMOZ PR"?

From Chris_R:

[webmasterworld.com...]

DMOZ PR = new_shoes probably means Google directory PR.

And the latter has not been updated yet as far as I can see.

Your Pagrank is what the normal Google toolbar shows it to be at this moment.

I just posted those graphs are down now along with other G directory images. Update? (Directory, that is)

The answer is that Google Directory PR and Google Toolbar PR are two different numbers!

See the following link for details -

(credit to Chris_R for this link, I had seen this before but did not have this link at my fingertips, but was able to pull the link from one of his recent related posts!)

To answer you last question...

Your real PR is actually NONE of these, but a (secret) floating-point number used internally by Google to help calculate rankings. Directory PR and Toolbar PR are only rough estimates.
