Webpages that link to you, webpages that contain the term

Webpages that link to you - www.xxxxxxx.com
webpages that contain the term - www.xxxxxxx.com

Just wondering, is there any difference, PR wise?

Well, for one thing, link: only includes pages with a PR of about 4 or higher, and will only let you see the first half of them.

A page that links to you will not necessarily have www.xxxxxxx.com in the content (outside of HTML tags). Most pages that I've seen link to other pages with English text as the anchor text, not the URL.

There are far more sites that link to www.yahoo.com than come up in a search for www.yahoo.com.

Nick

Am I right to assume there won't be any PR passed on from "webpages that contain the term"?

Thanks

That would depend on if a given listing actually linked to your web page or not.

You can be sure that all of the pages listed with link: are passing you PR, you just won't see all of them.

Thanks ASPdesigner

But what if it is just some pages showing my profile with a entry saying URL: followed by my webpage. You know like instance where you post a comment and they have an option for URL.

Wonder if I should even put it in along with my email address and then get spammed like hell.

You wont receive any PR if they just have the term www.mydomain.com they need it to be a link to your site when you press on it to get PR.

dazz is correct, it would depend on whether the listing was an actual clickable link to you, or if they just displayed your web addy as normal text.

However, if it shows up in a link: search you can be sure that it is a live link and that you are getting PR credit for it. Otherwise, it won't show up there!
