... And then get mega-hits and make massive amounts of money.

Hehe, but seriously, the sites that are on the 1st page, (the first 10 results) for those keywords must get HUGE amounts of traffic, right?

And we all know that lots of traffic can = lots of money.

Does Googel release other useful search terms. I have always used overture to determine the numbers of searches a phrase gets. It would be nice if Google provided the same information. Does anyone know where one could find this info? :)

I knew about this feature. But it isn't what I was talking about. I want to know how many searches happen for a specific phrase.
For example on Overture
widget 10000/searches per month
blue widget 100/searches per month

It would be nice to have access to the same information from Google.

Even very obscure phrases such as

Valentine's Day Widgets

were well searched on February 12, 13 and 14th.

My "Valentine's Day Widgets" page got an extra 4500 visitors on February 14th.

Ooops, Yeah you're right. I did read a thread here once that described the retionship between the amount of overture searches and Google searches that dealt specifically with this question. I don't remember the thread but I can't imagine how it would account for Google results depending on plurality and the Overture suggestion tool not.

Are those moments when G was blocked in China not seen in the graph, or are they just too small to see :)

You can try wordtracker.com
I think if you actually subscribe to the service they will give you google's numbers.

Wordtracker is another tool that I have used. I find it useful to use it to distinguish which is better the widgets or widget form of a word, but I really what to know Google's actual search numbers not a collection of search statistics, which might include Google.

Can anyone confirm this?
