Google Image Search

Optimizing Tips?

Does anybody know how to optimize for the Google image search? It appears that both the ALT text as well as the name of the image file are of great importance. Anything else? Does the text beside the image / on the rest of the page play a (major) role? How about keyword density? Incoming link text? Page title?

I have yet to see the secret key for ranking high on image search,
but the right alttext, the right surrounding text, the right title and the right links and Pagerank should help.
