I asked a while back about the "hidden" links (inside a "."). I also wondered if we had a penalty due to listing the text "Coming Soon".

Received some excellent advice - namely, it looks like google ignores links hidden in "." and that they don't penalize a page for using the "Coming Soon" text.

Several interesting things - I found out that our #4 traffic generator on our site was the keyword for this new product - even though we were result #20! I also guessed that freshbot hits our index page looking for fresh content, but none of the other pages (we had a new product we released a few weeks ago that we suddenly placed #2 on and started getting great traffic on).

With this new product, I encouraged them to put the announcement on the main page - and 48 hours after doing so we jumped from #20 to #3 on that term. Thanks all for the help and advice!

I do have a question, though. Do you think it would help to ALSO roll out a domain that we own with that exact, two word phrase? I'm thinking our new domain would compete with our current one - but is that a bad thing? (with the new domain we could also title our ENTRY page as the two keywords, which we can’t on our current domain) I don't want customers to think we are spamming sites (I hate it when I searching to buy a widget, and find 3 sites with LONG domain names that are IDENTICAL) - but we need to keep our shopping cart on our current site.

The current site has good name recognition for our current market. But, as we expand into a new market, people won't recognize our name - but WOULD DEFINITELY recognize our new domain. We'd like to use that new domain in advertising and as a Search Engine entry page. When users were ready to buy, they would click over to our other domain without even realizing it...

Thanks again!

Chris

Nah, a good support site would only help I'd think. As long as you are talking duplicate content. Look for some natural dividing line between the two sites.
