blogs can provide us with some facinating things sometimes:

[j-bradford-delong.net...]

"We used half the bandwidth of Stanford during our research phase..."

"Occasionally, we would shut down the nameservers at Stanford, and nobody could log into anything."

Today: profitable since 2001:Q1, 700+ people, 60+ Ph.D.s, 86 languages, 14 offices, 150M searches/day

>Why is google still around:

>We're lucky.
>Deep technical understanding of what we are doing.
>Not true of many companies (not Inktomi, of course).

Reminds me of the male team in this weeks "Survivor"....Who wants to bet the result is the same 24 months from now?

150M searches/day

I suspect that this will have quadrupled by then though.

If AOL stock keeps dropping, Google can buy them. I wonder if Google has any lawyers on the payroll?... I bet not, that is why they have been so successful.

"reality show.."

Ah, one of those shows where a bunch of ego-driven people are put into situations where only an idiot would go, and that has no real relationship to reality.

I have heard of those. Google shows 10,400 hits. But, Google shows 139,000,000 for "sex", so I guess we all know what is really real...

LoL, I am sure they need lawyers around. For one this is America, land of the lawsuits and no self responsibility.
Secondly, when you are on top, everyone seems to take a shot at you. I am sure search-king was only the start of it all.

The best and most influential inventions were accidents, or based on such, or were by-products of other research.
