Here's an interesting case I wonder if anyone could shed some light on.

The company name is Widget Services. When I search on 'widget services', the company is number 1, with a fresh tag of yesterday. Google uses snippets for the description.

When I search for 'widget' by itself, the company shows up about 104 in the SERPs. However, there is no Fresh tag, and the page's meta description shows up as Google's description. Same URL, and the cache shows the content that was updated in February.

I'm not so curious as to the much lower ranking for the two terms, just the difference in results presentation for the same URL in two searches.

You could be getting two different copies of the db. Did it stay the same the next day?

I just checked again. Now the fresh tags (from the 13th) are on both SERPS, but the descriptions remain the same.

Now it has been three days with this result, with the only difference being that yesterday, the fresh tag only appeared on the widget services result.
