order of results on servers

Do new results always start on www,www2,www3

My understanding is that new results after a deep crawl or freshbot, everflux etc. started showing up on www, www2, or www3 first and then propagated down to the other servers. In this case for example --> www-cw.

I ran a rank checking program (my first time honest) and I showed up at #2 for my main keyword which is higher than I have ever been. I am currently 11th on all of www,www2,www3.

I tracked the server down to www-cw that had my results and #2 and it had the Feb crawl page, not the freshbot page.

I am confused because if this server had old results, then I should never have been that high in the rankings, and if it is new results then how come it never showed up on www, www2, or www3.

Do I have the direction backwards? Do results start on cw and work upstream? I would love to be enlightened.
