What are these Google results?

Just did an allinurl on Google for one of my domains and came up with some strange results. Many of the listings were in this form:

secure.thru.vu/www.mydomain.com/directory/page.htm

Did a Google search for secure.thru.vu and came up empty. With quotes it returns 45,000 results. Domains in the results are all across the board (including MS and bcentral) and appear to be from all locations. Quite a few domains seem to have many pages listed in this format. All return 404s.

Alta Vista, FAST, Teoma, Jeeves, etc., don't return any results on the term.

So, what the heck is secure.thru.vu? And what the heck is up with Google indexing pages like this? Any ideas?

Mods: Couldn't find anyplace else for this. Since at first blush it appears to be Google specific I stuck it here. Move it if it better belongs someplace else.

Ive seen these too. :(

over 50,000 of them!

Theyd cached my content too.

Would this count as duplicate content?

Looks like a anonymous proxy. Allthough it's strange that the ip adress resolves back and forth to a hotel discount site - a really spammy one with hundreds of different domains linked form the start page ...

I know of other sites that mirror tons of different web spaces and enjoy their se results ... but they don't return a 404 ....?!

Thanks for the sticky onionrep!

Looks like this guy has been around for a few years.

It's too late now, but if martinibuster can ban India I sure as heck can ban Vunic. (And what the heck does a Vunician look like? They don't show up in the CIA Factbook.)

Oops! Thanks again onionrep (you're quick). Vanuatu, formerly the New Hebrides.

The proxy IP Googlebot was given is 64.39.14.112 which resolves to a3.a2zworks.net .

SetEnvIf Remote_Addr ^64\.39\.14\.112$ ban

That a2zworks is another of this guy's operations. Found a string of his .vu sites sitting at 66.216.72.24x.

And before I get too caught up in the arcane world .htaccess bans back to the real problem:

Why does it seem like Google is the only bot not able to handle this type of content, whether it's redirects, cached or whatever? Have had problems before with Google following redirects and indexing pages under the wrong site -- even though the redirect pages had meta 'noindex, nofollow' tags.

It appears to be the same here, only in this case Google is following a redirect of some sort and indexing the destination page -- but with the redirect link as the url.

Think googlebot needs a bit of tweaking.
