hello, i visited lots of different website
in dmoz.org and they only have a pr of 2
they are still listed i went checking in the category.
why do website listed in dmoz have pr=2

my website is listed in dmoz and has a PR=4
i'm trying to exchange links with other website
but they have low PR OF 2.

can anyone out there please explain why they have low page rank, is it because there listed in Regional: North America: United States --listed in there city.

thanxs

PR in Google has little or nothing to do with being listed in DMOZ. Even if the DMOZ page rank with that listing is high, a single link, even if high, is not going to do that much.

The real advantage of dmoz if you are lucky, is all the dmoz clones that take the listings for their own sites...... you end up with lots of pr flowing in from several sites, which hopefully grows each month.

These sites all must have few links in, and I suspect the dmoz page has low pr....just tough luck I'm afraid. The effect explained above may kick in, meanwhile link anyway, these sites may be pr7 one day :)

"end up with lots of pr flowing.."

In theory yes, but having looked at some of those links, most are very low PR. In fact nearly all of them are that I have seen.

isnt the extra two lines that dmoz provides to google a great help if it contains your keywords?
