Hi there

I just noticed from my stats getting a few refferals from way down the page at no:250 for my keywords with accents on them (french market). I always targeted the words without accent as more people search without. I just looked at google .fr and .be and the results are very different. It looks like they are merged as there is no difference in my ranking with or without the accent. Without accent my rank drops a bit but with accent it comes all the way up to 1st or 2nd page.

Is this new or did I never notice it before?

fatpeter,

I thought this merging of results had been in place for a long while.

What difference do you see between .fr and .be?

this might interest you on usage of accents by searchers:

Hi.. thanks for the answer.

I guess I must have just not noticed. Thanks for the link to the article. A bit of a shock to read that half the people search with accents :( not the result I got when I checked on adwords! Means I'm missing out on half my customers at google.com :( Guess I'll have to work a bit harder on my french language version but it never seems to do as good as the english.
