googlebot not following 301 redirect, should I worry?

Hi everybody,

My first post! Have been reading for quite a few months. Great place, and nice people. Thanks to everyone.

Now, here is my situation. I recently did some major changes to my URL structure. Almost all my thousands of URLs are changed, and I use .htaccess did the 301 redirect trick. I just checked yesterday's log, and found googlebot visited. When googlebot reached my old URLs, and got a 301 redirect, it did not follow my .htaccess to get the new URLs. Is this a temporary thing, or should I be worried? I really don't want to risk my listing in google. And if it is a risk, maybe I should change the URLs back, just for the big deep crawl?

(All pages can be reached by following links from root page, and all the old URLs are indexed by google.)

Any comments are appreciated.

I renamed a lot of files a couple months ago and it took g'bot a couple visits before she stopped checking the old files. If I remember correctly this was mostly the fresh bot. I think the deep crawler got them the first time.
