Why is it still BETA

Google's News Search has been up for sometime now. I am curious as to why it is still BETA. I can only think of two reasons:

1. They are having problems behind the scenes, which are not obvious to the users of the news search

2. They have more functionality to add. This is possible but then why don't they just put the functions in BETA and not the whole section.

Google News is a great service, but I think that there are some things that still need to be sorted out.

For example, newswire pieces that are put out by newspapers mean that the same story, from the same source (eg Reuters), appears loads of times on a search thus clogging up results. These need to be aggregated somehow and so users don't get those repititions.

This might be one of the problems that they are trying to get straightened before putting it up officially.

Google must exclude news sources that require subscription. Clicking on a news link only to be asked to pay up is not something that news seekers relish.
