Hi!

I've been working hard to increase my website popularity, and it's not working very well. I used Zeus for a month or two.. but know for sure that it is real crap except to find sites automatically. ( After a while when you surf hundreds or thousands of sites you always come back to sites you already visited.) I have now a pr0 on my website. It's a new site too, around 3 weeks.. The googlebot's been around a few time but now I need to change strategy for sure. But how can you increase your PR without beeing considered Link farm?.. I would really appreciate all suggestions about how I should organize my Link database. What Should I do right now to fix this pop and this pr0 ..

Thanks

if your sites only 3 weeks old, I wouldn't worry about fixing anything unless after reading here for a while you find you are doing some things wrong...

the best way to increase your sites popularity is to make it more popular... loads and loads of interesting and unique content will get you links and popularity, until then, keep building and find a few sites to exchange links with... that'll get you started.

Good luck

Hi Dabaron, Welcome to WebmasterWorld. The first thing I would do is use the site search [searchengineworld.com] and do a search for zeus. There are quite a few discussions related to the pros and cons of using Zeus. Here's a few to get started on:

  • Good reason to use zeus [webmasterworld.com]
  • Zeus and Google (again!) [webmasterworld.com]
  • ZEUS robot [webmasterworld.com]

    And try searching for themeindex:

  • themeindex.htm is a penalized word [webmasterworld.com]

After reading those take a stroll through the Link Development Library [webmasterworld.com]:

  • Prompting sites to reciprocate links [webmasterworld.com]
  • Linking-What's the big deal? [webmasterworld.com]

Linking is a popular subject around here and I'm sure you'll get some more answers from some of the experts on the subject.

You may want to do a search for some of the discussions regarding guestbooks also. This seems to be one of the grey areas when it comes to building link popularity:

  • Google loves guestbooks! [webmasterworld.com]
  •
