Cutoff Date For March Listing

Is it too late to list a new site for March in Google?

Hello,

If the deep crawl is going on now, does this mean that it is too late to get a new website listed in Google for March?

Thanks

Joe

Not by a longshot. You have plenty of time. Next general update is February, around the end of Feb. And there is Freshbot, which will find any linked-to site and include it after a few days.

Thanks for your reply Beachboy. However, my experience from last month tells me differently:

- A website I added towards the end of December showed up for a few days, then disappeared and did not show up again until today, with PR.

- A website I added in the middle of January showed up today, but with no PR

- Links I added in the beginning of January appeared today, but links I added in the middle of January did not appear.

You need to give Freshbot a lot of ways to find your site. Get more inbound links to your site. Freshbot appears to roam various parts of the web daily, and if it comes across links to your site here, there and everywhere, then the chances are excellent it will be temporarily listed more than just once throughout the month.

It looks like the site you added in mid-January was found too late for PR to be calculated, although it may be too early to know that for sure. If it doesn't have positioning on www2 or www3, then you're gonna have to wait another month.

At this moment, a new site that enjoys multiple inbound links will be ranked with the February update. But that might not be the case a week from now. Thus, you're in plenty of time for the March update.

Is it? I haven't seen the deep crawler in my logs lately,
although I've been getting a lot of activity from the
freshbot.

The deep crawl doesn't start until (usually) a few days
after the update is finished. I wouldn't expect it to
start until next weekend.

If you get the site up and incoming links in place this
week, you should get into the upcoming deep crawl, which
will produce the update at the end of February.

During the dance, the version of my homepage used was from the Freshbot, crawled just 2 days before, so you have lots of time in principle. Anyway, the examples you list show that is NOT too late to add a new site.

As far as the pagerank goes, Google doesn't show all inbound links when you search for them anyways. But they would almost certainly have to be added before the main crawl, which is usually around mid-month in my recollection.

P.S. I usually see TWO deep crawls in a month - one shortly after the dance has ended, and the other around mid-month. I don't know why this happens.
