Drinkin' and Dancin'.
Is that a safe activity, onebaldguy?

Thought there were laws against that sort of thing? :)

My guess is that this is the month the Freshbot will finally decide that she has had enough and kick the deepcrawler off Google for good.

There's not enough room in town for the both of them. And Freshbot necessarily feels superior. One day she's gonna kick her sister out of the house and then there won't be a monthly update anymore.

Maybe this is the month!

If the update occurs on Super Bowl Sunday, the ONLY guys (mostly) in the USA who WON'T be watching it will be the SEOs. ;) I think the engineers at Google have a sadistic streak....

I have been seeing some interesting activity while doing link development today. I am running into a lot of "Your search - link:www.xxxxx.com - did not match any documents" on a lot of sites where I know for sure there are backlinks. Even had it come up once when checking www.yahoo.com. After refreshing a time or two, the backlinks will eventually show up.

Anyone else seeing this?

Put me down for tomorrow.

Deep crawl? I'm not seeing it myself.

Awwww heck...I hate to sound like everyone else but I'll lay it on the Super Bowl.

My birthday is on the 29th, so I think it would be an appropriate gift.

The 1st of Feb, 0500 EST, USA...

The last two updates have been so good to me that I know it's time for a fall... The peaks and the valleys... It's a killer on the nerves.

I vote for the end of the game, Sunday. That way if your team loses, the Big G can stomp you while you're down. :)

GoogleGuy said in another thread Jan 26th would be too early, I think he knows the Jan late crawl and PR calc for 3.1 billion pages ain't got a chance of finishing by then;)

So lets see, a weekend after that, and time for a little review to be done, must make the dance start at Feb 8th 9:30pm UST.

Lots of time to get those new sites ready for the next full crawl :)

They are out crawling hard today - this may be the crawl. There were several last year that were 'pre update' crawls and no post-update crawl.

<censor> #$%*&@#! </censor>

I hope that it isn't the last deep crawl for March update.

There's a major Web outage tonight....

[webmasterworld.com...]

If it affects the crawl, I hope they give it a second chance.

I wouldn't panic about missing the deep crawl - it will be days yet before it's finished.

Nevertheless, I raced to finish changes I want reflected in March. Hope you are right.

Don't think it will be before or during the match as surely there'd be a surge in use as people look for reviews etc and google wouldn't want to risk any problems relating to an update occuring when a surge is possible?

I'm still getting crawled on one site that is regularly indexed by the freshbot only. Anyone know why this would be?

I mean the site is fully indexe but is being hit by the freshbot still, not the deepcrawler.

Well, there was some sort of internet blackout (last 8 hours?) due to a fiber optic cable being cut near Palo Alto, according to unconfirmed sources. Meanwhile, googlebot is out doing a deep crawl.

I surely hope Google, hint, will do another deep crawl since there could undoubtably be a lot of sites not included due to a FUBAR on someone else's part.

GoogleGuy, please advise the powers that be another deep crawl is necessary due to this internet blackout.

I am anticipating news reports on this internet blackout.

EquityMind

10:41 pm on Jan 25, 2003 (gmt 0)

I thought it was a denial of service attact? News reports are stating that it is a worm..hardly any mention of the fiber optic cable being cut.

Zapatista

11:33 pm on Jan 25, 2003 (gmt 0)

Yeah, I posted that before clearer details were made public. I was going off what someone else reported which is why I included the phrase, "according to unconfirmed reports."

Yesterday two 216.239... googles, right now eighteen simultaneous googlebots from 64.68... IPs. Is this freshbot or deepcrawling?
