I am putting up a new site for a client. My question is, is there a good time and ab ad time to upload the content of the site for the first time? I mean, so the site is included in any deepcrawls, etc. Or is there no such thing as timing when uploading new websites?

When is the next deepcrawl. Asap as in within the next few days or now?

If the past is an indicator of the future, it will not begin until after the January update. This should mean you still have a few days. However, I would agree with rfgdxm1 that you should put anything you want crawled up ASAP. This will give you some time to test it before the deepcrawler shows up (a lesson I've learned the hard way).

Within the next week most likely.

Asap as in as soon as you are ready. I cannot think of any good reason to wait till just before the next deepcrawl in the first week of february, but I can think of lots of reasons not to wait.

If you put it up now you can hope that the freshbot finds it and you can also start working on getting the site linked from other sites.

Usually the deep crawl comes right at the time of the update. *Now* is the time of the month the update usually happens. For the last 2 months Google was late in the month doing it, but if they return to the usual pattern the update is due about now. I wouldn't hesitate on the theory that Google will be late again.

The site isn't totally complete though. Roughly it is. I still need to add some pages. Should I still upload it or wait for the next crawl?

>>I still need to add some pages

Of course, and you will need to add more pages two weeks from now, and some more pages three days after that, and a few more pages a week after that... :)

Unless you are missing crucial pages, upload the site and start working on acquiring links. Websites are always under construction and that particular aspect of websites is now being rewarded by Google via the Freshbot.

Something to keep in mind ... unless you already have some inbound links ... the deepcrawler may not stop by at all this month.

No, the pages aren't crucial. I will start getting the site up. Thanks everyone! :)

I only have a couple of inbound links PR4 and PR5. Will this be enough?

One pr4 will get the site listed. Ranking well however is another issue.

I have these links already posted on sites, if Google combs these sites and gets to mine and it's not up yet, will this hurt the rankings? If so, and I can't get the site up in time, should I remove the links from my clients' sites, or can I leave them as they are?

Have you already been paid for doing the site, at least partially? Depending on what kind of arrangements have been made, some webmasters don't upload the site until after at least a certain percentage of the fee's been paid - just in case.

Actually yes, over 80% of the fees have been paid upfront. I was just wondering if I didn't post it and google finds the inbound links and the site isn't up yet, will my client's site be punished or not?

Upload the site and the question is academic. :) Google won't punish the site though. I've seen sites with a TB PR of 6 that aren't complete. If the site has an index page you're fine. If the site returns a 404 Google will be back.

Actually the site has a parking page from the registrar up right now. Is that okay? These questions may sound stupid, but since I've learned so much here about google, I don't want to make a mistake with this customer's site, if I can avoid it. But it sounds like I can upload without a problem

I'd get it off the registrar's now and upload the pages. It takes 24-96 hours to propogate, you can probably catch this crawl and have the client in by next update.
