page shows up only in omitted results

Hi all,
I have a site that has been listed in google for a long time
and has always been #1 for my top keyword. Within the last few
days I have noticed that my site is no longer listed at all in
the first 1000 results for that keyword. I did not really think
much of this because I attributed this drop to everflux.

However, I am concerned because with a little more prodding,
I was able to find my page listed as #1 for my top keyword
but only if I chose to view the results with the omitted
pages.

The only thing I can think of is that one of our affiliates
has a listing that redirects to our page. This affiliate listing
does show up in the non-omitted results but is listed at
position 11.

Any hints or ideas?

thanks in advance

I'm not sure but can it be due to your site being "marked" as a regional site for a specific country, where is it hosted?

Thats something I had not considered....it is hosted in the US.

Mind you, I have noticed that if i do a

site:www.websitehere.com -foo

that sometimes I will see a link above the search results that
says :

Would you prefer to search for English results only?

Have you set your preferences to search in another language? Maybe you're searching for non-English pages when your site is in English?

Ive tried explicitely seeting my setttings to English results only and
any language. Both settings return the same results - without my page.

I am experiencing the same problem. Homepage does not show up for my keywords. Was in top 20 after update, then seemed to disappear, but only for targeted keywords. Other less important words bring my hompage up, but usually as a second site with another far lower site as the main result...in other words

Have a page [mysite...]

and when I put in widget tools, that page comes up, with my main page with more relevevant content, title for widget tools as a sub listing.

I am afraid I got penalized for my keywords becuase I was messing with the keyword density and for a day or so, I may have gone over it on my homepage, and google may have crawled my site and penalized me just for those high kwd phrases on my hompage. Could that happen. If so, who do I e-mail at google to tell them it is fixed, if in fact that was the problem.

Jimmie, you have probably not been penalized, and in crumpeta's case the site in question was not penalized either (it was a redirect problem).

And it is extermly rare that they remove someone from the index because of to high Keyword Density, if it's to high they normally just ignore it.

And due to the Everflux your site can go up and down in the rankings, especially if it's not a very competitive industry or specific keyword.

thanks lazerzubb. It's really scary to disappear after working so hard.

This should mean that the URL has been merged due to its similarity with another URL. I take it that your URL appears where you'd expect when you append &filter=0 to the search result URL?

I haven't come across this behavour due to a redirect, does anyone know if a 302 redirect can result in both URLs getting listed in this way?
