Spoken Language Information Retrieval [isip.msstate.edu]
This research will provide initial steps towards information extraction from spoken documents or from any text (such as encyclopedias), and can serve as the basis for a sorely needed sophisticated web browser technology and data mining applications.

What an incredible research tool that would be, being able to search for and listen to historically significant speeches, or search to find topically important talks. They may not be on line, but they could always be submitted to be catalogued.
