If you want your site to be found under multiple keywords how do you handle it?

e.g.
Web Site Design
or
Website Design

This takes lots of content pages. It also takes some good PR to lift those content pages so that they can compete with folks who are plugging at the same keywords from their homepage. Easier said than done, I know. But that's the case with most things worth doing. :)

At some point, you have to choose which keyword you're going to plug on the home page, and which will be the alternates.

Of course, there's always overture and adwords, if you are ecommerce and selling products.

But that kind of traffic is like eating popcorn. Once you start with it, it's hard to stop.

I have had some success with this as there are a lot of common misspellings in my industry. I usually stick with the accepted spelling unless it is not the most commonly used. In that case, I use both spelllings throughout the site concentrating more heavily on the correct usage. I also include some text on the main page for that kw explaining the various spellings used and which is the accepted form.

Most importantly you don't want to dissipate your coverage, so it is best to stick with one main kw and hope to pick up one page with the misspelling. Most people, I think, soon discover their mistake based on the SERPs.
