Google results 148,000 to 20

What happened to the other 147,980?

Did a search for a two-word kw phrase, got 148,000 results returned. When I get to page 2 of SERPs, results end at 20. Did that query a couple times, same situation, only two pages of results. Anybody else seeing that?

Is it possible that there are ommitted results from same sites? Otherwise I would expect it is just one of those wrinkles that will clear up in a few minutes/hours.

This is done often when resultsare repeatitive in nature.
Even popular search terms are limited in the number of results that can be viewed.

Assuming those 148,000 are from more than two or three sites ... it's probably a glitch. Usually Google cuts off at 800 results no matter what.

In the blue bar on the right it says: Results 1 - 100 of about.

That word about is a pretty big word ;-) aka: approximate.
