The IP you provided wont resolve for me neither. I am not sure it related to google...

how is it i keep typing in www.google.com in the address bar and this ip comes up on the bottom saying its trying to connect in ie6.0

Can you try this?

1- Go search for Google on some other search engine and click the link.
2- Try Google.ca

ok this is weird google.ca works! but if i go to msn and type google and then click the link it dosent hold on im going to clear my cache see what happens

nope no third party toolbar i ran ad aware and deleted whatever it found nd still nothing ive also tried opera browser and no there ethier

ok now it worked by itslef again well i looked at the ip it resolved to and it changed to another one now i have the martin luther king logo well i guess i experianced the twilight zone thanks mac for your help

Could have been a router thing between you and google, not sure about this.

I am glad for you it is fixed now. This kind of "twilight zone experience" can make one shiver sometimes. ;)

Also, check your hosts file - c:\windows\hosts with a text editor. Some scumware will write an entry to it which redirects requests for well-known sites.

I think I read about this exploit here on WebmasterWorld a couple of weeks ago, you might want to try a search for it.

Putting a specific IP address in your hosts file for the Google toolbar queries is one way to reduce "everflux", too. So the hosts file can be used for good or evil.

Here's what mine looks like right now:

127.0.0.1 localhost 
216.239.33.100 toolbarqueries.google.com  

If you don't have a hosts file, there is usually an example file there, called "hosts.sam"
