Google showing old cache

Today Google is showing a very old cache of my homepage. Its dated december 11. Yesterday the cache was from january 9.

Has anyone noticed anything like this?

I believe you were seeing fresh results yesterday and not today. I had my fresh results disappear yesterday also, (everflux). The dates seem odd though. Fresh results should have been from about Jan 15 and old indexed caches should be before Dec 11.

Googleguy, once a site is freshed, why revert back to the older version? This devalues your search engine. Just leave the latest fresh version in cache, until it is freshed again.

I have a theory, probably wrong, that the freshbot results are a testbed for algo changes for the main indexing. That might explain why they come and go.
