Greetings,

I've perused the archives and knowledgebase, forgive me but I seem to lack a few basics.

A: where do you find your PR (page rankings)?

And second. I've seen references to google indexing data driven content. I think in my case this is impossible since all the deep content i would like to see indexed is filtered by form elements (in this case vehicle year and model). Also using the Post Method obviosly makes page URLs impossible.

Can anyone shed some light on how googlebot treats links that run client scripts, post vs. get form data, and what he does when faces with dropdown menus?

Sorry for the wordy post

Tyler

Welcome to WebmasterWorld [webmasterworld.com] ill_man.

Be sure to read Marcia`s WebmasterWorld Welcome and Guide to the Basics [webmasterworld.com] post.

PageRank

Download the toolbar from toolbar.google.com and enable the advanced features. The green bar in the toolbar will show the PR. You will need to use IE.

Googlebot

Googlebot will not submit forms. So all navigation that uses forms is invisible to the spider. Dropdown menues might get indexed when they contain the URI in a way that Googlebot may recognize. To ensure that all pages get spidered you should build a sitemap which links to your deep pages using a elements.

Thanks andreasfriedrich,

I've never paid any attention to that little green bar...silly me.

So this is why alot of big sites use the Get method then, allowing them to use true http links on the pages?

Thanks

Yes, thatīs the idea. Make it as easy as possible for spiders to index your page ;)
