The data center's IP address is 216.239.57.100

Currently, it seems to point somewhere pretty similar to www-sj

IMO, www-sj is offline for some months now. The IP address that the domain points to varies. Probably it was the other way around, and sj pointed to cw when you checked it.

That makes sense, so www-cw is Exodus (now C&W) in California?

All the trace routes that I did (from Europe, the US, even from Berkeley or San Diego) go to C&W first. It appears that it gave the domain its name. But, however, the final hops always go to Exodus.
