Google Update Question

Exactly what happens?

Could someone explain the sequence of events during a Google update.
How many visits, whats each one for, how long does it last, how often, how long before the update shows etc.

hi judge. i don't know that specific, but my experience is, that google spiders your site and adds it to the index. then if the new index will be pushed on google, it will be announced and celebrated on webmasterwrold. :)

Roughly:

• Google does it's deep crawl takes as long as it takes depending on how deep (PR related) and how large your site
  
• Freshbot may or may not visit you every couple of days (PR related) during the course of the month
  
• Update begins - Usually toward the end of the month
  
• Update takes 3-5 days and at some point is moved from www2/3 to www
  
• Deep crawl begins again

Thanks for the info.
Whats the point of Freshbot if the sites are not updated until after the main crawl?
Does it visit of its own accord or does it have to be rquested to visit.
Apart from visits at the start of the month I dont get any others despite a continually enlarging site and numerous monthly page changes.

the point of freshbot is that very often, you can have very fresh information appear in Google's results more or less the day after you publish it for a couple of days.

In the past this could take up to two months depending on the publishing date.
