After awaiting our first listing with Google eagerly we were pleased to find that we were no5 with our top k-words. Retained this for about a week (but with no pagerank, even tho we do have links to us), checked it and clicked through this morning. I made some changes to the index page this afternoon (nothing major just changing text) then went to search results again and we had gone. I can't find any listing for the URL even by searching on it directly. Is it the changes that I've made? Someone told me that engines will temp remove updated pages - is that true?

Looks like you had a visit from the Google freshbot.

He pays a visit, lists your site near the top for a few days and then you will drop after that time, if you keep updating your page then it should stay near the top then next update it will find a more comfortable place in the index (might not be at the top though)
